There does not appear to be a way to create a new list and set it to private on the iOS GitHub app. It will default to public only. It would be great to have that option.

Currently, list creation and privacy controls are more fully supported on the desktop/web experience; the mobile app may not expose a “create private list” flow.

Workaround: open GitHub in a mobile browser and switch to the desktop site, or use the desktop/web interface to create a private list.

If you want a permanent mobile feature, post a feature request in the Discussions or GitHub’s mobile issue tracker so product teams see it.
