I’m providing feedback about the GitHub Actions cache, since it’s a core part of speeding up workflows but has some limitations that affect reliability and usability.

The title says it all — the Actions cache is useful, but there are a few areas where it could be improved:

Reliability:
Sometimes caches fail to restore without a clear reason, leading to inconsistent workflow performance.

Partial / Selective Restores:
Currently, cache restores are “all or nothing.” It would be useful to support partial or layered caching, especially for large dependency sets.

Cross-Workflow Sharing:
Cache keys are tied to the workflow, making it hard to share cached dependencies across different workflows in the same repo.

Better Debugging / Transparency:
When a cache miss occurs, more detailed logs explaining why (e.g., key mismatch, corrupted archive) would make troubleshooting much easier.

Expiration & Invalidation:
Having more control over cache retention and invalidation (e.g., manually expiring a cache from the UI) would give maintainers more flexibility.

Overall, the cache is extremely helpful, but improvements here would save developers time and make workflows more predictable.

I agree with this suggestion. When working with GitHub Actions cache, removing caches one by one can be time-consuming, especially in repositories with many cache entries.

Having a “Clear All Cache” button on the Actions Cache page would make it much easier for maintainers to quickly reset caches when debugging workflows or after major dependency updates.
